Things to Do in Colorado Springs This Weekend: Jan. 13-15, 2012
This looks to be a rather quiet weekend in Colorado Springs, but the weather is supposed to warm up (click here for the weekend forecast), so this would be a great time to enjoy a hike, mountain bike ride, tennis match, or round of golf with your family. Below we’ve listed a couple of fun events that will be happening in the Colorado Springs community. Let us know if we missed anything, and we wish you a pleasant weekend!
- 17th Annual Great Fruitcake Toss — Saturday, 9 am to 2 pm, Manitou Springs High School track. Gather up a non-perishable food item (to be donated to the Westside Cares food bank) plus any unwanted fruitcake that you received over the holidays and head to Manitou Springs High School, where you’ll be able to participate in the hand toss, kids’ toss, launch, pneumatic gun or canon, or accuracy division. A limited quantity of fruitcakes will be available to rent, and event t-shirts will be available for purchase. Click here to read a TLC Cooking article about this event.
- The Von Trapp Children — Saturday, 8 pm, Pikes Peak Center. If you’re fond of the classic film The Sound of Music, then you must check out this event! Recently featured on Oprah, Sofia, Melanie, Amanda, and Justin von Trapp—great-grandchildren of the real Captain von Trapp—will perform songs from The Sound of Music (and more), keeping the singing tradition of their family alive. Tickets $19-60. (Tickets to this show are selling fast, so act quickly!)
