Wellness Day at Garden of the Gods Club
The modern lifestyle is no stranger to stress. One survey conducted by the American Psychological Association (APA) found that 75 percent of respondents reported experiencing moderate to high levels of stress during the past month. To help you squash stress and cultivate wellness, The Spa & Salon at Garden of the Gods Club is pleased to host a Wellness Day on Wednesday, March 21, from 8 am to 3 pm. “This event is an excellent opportunity to take a break while learning from professionals about multiple aspects of wellness,” Spa Director Amanda Rigby said. If you could use a day off and want to learn about the art of wellness, keep reading to get the details.
Though it’s easy to understand what stress is, the definition of wellness isn’t always clear. Put simply, wellness is simply the state of being in good physical and mental health. It has also been defined as the active process of achieving your full potential of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. “For me, wellness is maintaining a functioning balance between the physical, emotional, and spiritual parts of myself,” Amanda said. “When I’m not neglecting one of those three, getting sick isn’t going to emotionally turn my world upside down.”
Wellness Day will kick off with a refreshing continental breakfast and yoga on GGC’s Sunrise Terrace. After getting off to a great start, the day will continue with informative classes on weight loss myths, how the spa can improve health, and practical tips for reducing stress and improving relationships. And, if you’ve ever struggled with how to create healthy meals for your family, you’ll appreciate Wellness Day’s feature of healthy cooking demos with Garden of the Gods Club Executive Sous Chef Casey Higgins. The session will include realistic tips for improving family eating habits.
In addition to classes geared toward helping you discover what personal wellness looks like in your life, the event will also feature complimentary bio surveys. Bio surveys utilize advanced galvanic skin response technology to measure how the body responds to various stimuli. This reveals which minerals are lacking in the body in order to help combat any deficiencies.
The day will break with a healthy luncheon featuring keynote speaker, Dr. Daniel Ward, a specialist in internal medicine with more than 15 years of experience. Dr. Ward will discuss how stress impacts the body in a unique way and how to measurably reduce that stress. “Stress can be a major factor in a variety of medical issues, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, sleep disorders, and depression,” Dr. Ward explained. “A major component of stress relief is utilizing relaxation techniques, which center on where your mind is focused. I will be discussing these, and other aspects of stress relief, in detail during the Wellness Day luncheon.”
Wellness is an invaluable state of being that improves every area of life. If you are in need of a day devoted to cultivating wellness, we encourage you to attend. This fun and educational day of wellness is an excellent value at just $30 per person (plus tax and service charge), which includes the light breakfast and healthy lunch.
