Things to Do in Colorado Springs This Weekend: July 12-15, 2012
If you’re looking for ways to stay busy this weekend in Colorado Springs, look no further than today’s blog post! We have scoured the local event boards to bring you a few great ideas for fun activities and events to enjoy with your family. A family hike, a round of golf, a tennis match, a lazy afternoon by the pool, or a trip to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo to see its newest baby giraffe could also be great options. Whatever we do this weekend, let’s make a point to spend time with our loved ones and get outside to enjoy the beautiful Colorado sunshine.
- Free For All Summer Symphony: A Celebration of Charles Ansbacher and Bee Vradenburg– Tonight, 5 pm, Colorado College Armstrong Quad. The Colorado Springs Philharmonic presents a night of music under starlit Colorado skies. Enjoy food and live performances. Philharmonic concert begins at 7pm, conducted by music director Josep Caballé-Domenech. Presented in partnership with Bee Vradenburg Foundation and Charles Ansbacher Foundation. July 13 is the rain back-up date.
- 2012 Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Days — today through Saturday, Norris-Penrose Event Center. From their website: “Celebrate Colorado Springs’ rich Western heritage with Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Days. This PRCA Tour Rodeo boasts a unique combination of traditional rodeo events, along with a variety of other acts sure to entertain. Fans of all ages will enjoy all the action! Gates open at 4:00 pm—come early, skip the traffic, and enjoy the family-friendly pre-show fun, including Mutton Bustin’ tryouts, gold panning, trick rope demos, pony rides, performing pigs, mechanical bull rides, and much more! - Revving It for Rachael Car Show — Saturday, 11 am to 3 pm, University Village Shopping Center (I-25/N. Nevada) Check out awesome cars, trucks, and motorcycles for a great cause while checking out local vendor booths, enjoying free samples, and more. - Western Museum of Mining & Industry 30th Anniversary & Membership Appreciation Celebration — Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm, Western Museum of Mining & Industry. From their website: “Our 19th and 20 century steam engines will rumble to life; you’ll hear the shrill whistle of an Osgood steam shovel; watch a trammer speed down the rail; and…for this special event, the museum’s one-of-a-kind Yellow Jacket Stamp Mill Gold & Silver Refinery will operate – feel the ground shake and hear the thunder as the stamp mill comes to life! Complete with a piece of anniversary cake and a special admission rate of only $3.00 per person… this will be a special, interactive celebration for the whole family.”
