Helpful Tips on How to Dress for Autumn Golf in Colorado

Dressing in layers is the key to enjoying autumn golf in Colorado

If you are lucky enough to be golfing in Colorado, you are lucky enough!  In the autumn, Colorado golfers typically enjoy beautiful warm days sandwiched by crisp mornings and cold evenings, but we also know that it’s wise to bring a golf bag full of clothes just in case Mother Nature has something different in store.

Dressing yourself and packing your golf bag for changing fall weather has definitely become easier with the introduction of many tech fabrics.  Designed to take care of you from head to toe, a wide array of lightweight, windproof, waterproof, moisture-wicking, moisture-resistant, breathable, and anti-microbial golf clothing is now available in many colors and styles.   A wide variety of brand names are also available, including Polartec®, COOLMAX®, Ultrex, WINDSTOPPER®, and GORE-TEX®.  Are you confused yet?

One of the most important things you can do when shopping for these items is to enlist the help of a qualified sales consultant and bring along your reading glasses!  Your sales consultant can give you the highlights of each clothing application you are considering, and the hang tag typically gives the specific qualities and laundering instructions.  Many of these items are expensive and made to last, so you want to be sure you are purchasing exactly what will fit your needs.  Unless you are planning to golf in Scotland or in a torrential downpour, for example, water-resistant clothing could be the more practical choice over waterproof in getting yourself off the golf course and into the clubhouse–and about 30% cheaper!

Regardless of the product you choose, layering is always the key to staying warm!  In addition to the big-ticket items like rain suits, vests and wind sweaters, winter golf gloves, and hand warmers, a stocking hat or headband will keep you toasty until you can make it into the club house or the 19th hole!

Warm wishes from the Golf Shop!
